Introducing Smooth Archtop Jazz Guitar by Monster Sounds – an elite collection of vibey jazz guitar samples performed by the exceptionally talented Leo Appleyard, a highly respected London-based jazz guitarist and producer. Produced by Chris Pedley, the producer behind The Baker Brothers and Saronde, these samples were played on a hollow-bodied electric guitar and recorded to capture a truly vintage sound.
Leo is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London, and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, where he studied jazz guitar under esteemed musicians like Nick Smart, Phil Robson, Jez Franks, and Jean Toussaint. His career spans international performances at iconic venues and festivals, including Ronnie Scott's, The Barbican, Royal Festival Hall, London Jazz Festival, North Face Festival (Switzerland), The Blue Note (Dublin), and more.
Beyond his performance career, Leo has collaborated with a diverse range of artists across genres, including Derek Nash, Jim Mullen, Jo Harman, and Redtenbacher's Funkestra. His expertise extends to education, holding the position of Professor of Guitar at the Royal Military School of Music, where he re-wrote the contemporary guitar syllabus, now taught internationally.
Smooth Archtop Jazz Guitar features a sequence of chord progressions, lead lines, and solo parts that can be easily layered to create both simple sequences and complex melodies. All guitar loops were performed on a Classic Gibson ES 175, amplified through a boutique setup featuring a 1950s Kodak Pageant Film Projector amp—a vintage tube amp from a film projector renowned for its unique tonal character. The guitar loops are available in both dry and reverbed versions. Choose the fully realistic vintage reverb sound or customize it to suit your project’s needs.
Complementing the guitar, this pack includes live bass loops recorded on a 1972 Fender P Bass using a boutique analogue input chain. These basslines fit seamlessly with the guitar loops, perfect for song-starter ideas.
The recording took place at Jonny’s Time Capsule studio and the setup included vintage Germanium BBC AM/9/5 mic preamps, a Coutant STC 4033-a mic, and a live reverb chamber for that warm sound.
In detail expect to find 1.03 GB of 24Bit 44.1KHZ wavs - 131 Guitar Loops With Reverb, 121 Guitar Loops Dry, and 27 Bass Guitar Loops.
Whether you're creating jazz, soul, funk, or cinematic soundtracks, Smooth Archtop Jazz Guitar delivers timeless inspiration and professional quality. Discover the vintage jazz tones that only Monster Sounds can provide!
